Recently, after many months of trying to resolve the problem of not having a suitable car for my ministry, the Lord blessed me because a generous person in Bangkok and the Catholic group in which she was a member came to my assistance. This lady through the introduction of the group donated to the church a used car that was in good condition. I was extremely grateful for this help. I wrote a letter to thank her as well as a letter to the group.
Dear Mrs. S.
Greetings from Nong Bua Lamphu province in the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is my greatest pleasure to be writing this letter to you to personally thank you for the sacrifice that you have made and the generosity that you have shown to me and our small Catholic community in Nong Bua Lamphu province by making it possible for me to have a vehicle to use in my pastoral work. I am so grateful to you and the ..... group for being so generous in making this contribution.
Please know that this vehicle will be used by me to go about my parish duties and to visit parishioners in their homes. It will also be used to help transport parishioners to church. It will be used to take the youth to various activities such as visiting the abandoned elderly citizens in the villages and to religious celebrations in the diocese. Indeed, your contribution will be very helpful to me in my mission work here in Nong Bua Lamphu.
As I celebrate daily mass, I certainly will not forget to pray for you and your family as well as the .... group that God will grant you His abundant blessings of peace, love, and well-being. I also hope that you will keep me and the Nong Bua Lamphu Catholic community in your prayers, so that through the grace of God, we will continue to grow and be faithful witnesses of God in this province.
Once again, I send my sincere appreciation and may the Triune God and the Blessed Virgin Mary bless you today and everyday of your life.
I also wrote a separate letter to the .....group to thank them for their generosity.
Dear ... Group in Christ,
I am writing this letter to you to express my deep appreciation for your kindness and support of my mission work in Nong Bua Lamphu. It came as such a pleasant and even miraculous surprise to me that upon expressing my need to you, even informally, that I would receive such quick assistance from you so that now I have a vehicle to use for my ministry.
Praise and thanks be to God for working in such amazing ways. Just a few months ago, I was quite worried about how I would go about my ministry with such an old pick-up truck (13 years old with almost 500,000 km on it). As the diocese was unable to help me with a different vehicle at this time, I was left to figure out what to do on my own. I had even thought about finding money to buy a second hand vehicle and pay off monthly. However, with God’s guidance, I was led to you and you have graciously accepted to help me.
With this, I am very moved and I am grateful to you. I realize that without such people and groups like yourself, mission work is virtually impossible. I hope that you will continue to be blessed and guided by the Holy Spirit so that you can continue to collaborate as a group and as individuals in the task of proclaiming the Good News to all people, especially the poor and disadvantaged.
It certainly has been my pleasure to know the ... group and its members. Your work is an inspiration to me and reminds me that no matter how difficult things can get in the mission field, I am always supported by good people like yourself.
As we approach the Lenten season in preparation for Easter, I pray that this time will be a blessed time for you, and may you and the .... group be renewed in spirit and vigor to carry on the work of God. I will not forget you in my daily Mass and prayers. Once again, thank you and may our Loving God and Mother Mary bless you always.
